These lovely earrings feature the ancient triquetra symbol at the top. It is compsed of three interlaced arcs, or three overlapping vesicle piscis, or lens shapes. The symbol is first encountered in history around the 4th century BCE on ornamented ceramics of Anatolia and Persia, and it appears on early Lycian coins. It is also found in Northern Europe on ancient turnstones an Germanic coins. It was later found in Anglo-Saxon illuminated manuscripts and stonework. The leaf shaped drop features moonstones, and a stamped triple goddess symbol, representing the Maiden on the left, Mother in the full moon center, and Crone on the right.
They hang about 2 inches long and are entirely sterling silver.
